Getting Started – Symbium
Getting Started with Symbium
Symbium is a platform that enables owner-builders and contractors to enter their project scope, evaluate compliance with applicable codes and jurisdiction-specific requirements, and where feasible, create a permit record instantly or accelerate the approval process. To get started, you will need a valid property address within a supported jurisdiction. From there, Symbium determines what project types are available to you and walks you through the applicable requirements.
Symbium uses your property's address and jurisdiction to pull up the permits, approvals, and project types available to you. Property data on Symbium is filled in automatically from official jurisdiction data sources. Symbium does not create, edit, or override this data. Because jurisdictions are the authoritative source for address and parcel information, if your address does not appear or your property details look incorrect, it reflects what is currently on record with your jurisdiction. The sections below cover what to do in both situations.
Every jurisdiction sets its own rules for what projects are allowed and under what conditions. Eligibility on Symbium reflects those local rules, which means your zoning district, property classification, and location can all affect what is available to you. If your project appears grayed out or you are seeing an ineligible status, the sections below will help you understand why and what your next steps are.
