Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Symbium account. It is optional but recommended. When enabled, you will be asked to enter a code from your authenticator app each time you log in.

## Setting up 2FA

To set up 2FA, go to your **Account Overview** and click **Click here to set it up**, or navigate to the **Security** section in your account settings and click **Setup** next to **Two-factor Authentication**.

Then follow these steps:

- Scan the QR code displayed on screen using an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or Duo.
- Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app in the Authentication code field.
- Click **Enable 2FA**.

## Saving your backup codes

After enabling 2FA, Symbium will provide a set of backup codes. **Save these backup codes in a secure location.**

If you lose access to your authenticator app, you can use a backup code to log in.

## Lost access to your authenticator app and backup codes?

If you cannot recover access through your backup codes, email [account-recovery@symbium.com](mailto:account-recovery@symbium.com) to request account recovery assistance.
